AQUATIC WEEDS

There are approximately 66 different aquatic weeds or aquatic flowering plants.  Aquatic weeds/flowering plants are subdivided into the following categories:

EMERGENT WEEDS (21 varieties)

Grass Like Plants - bulrush, cattails, giant cutgrass, giant foxtail, maiden cane, paragrass, reed grass, sawgrass, apikerush            

Broad Leaf Plants - arrow head, creeping water primrose, false loosestrife, frogbit, knotweed, pickerelweed, purple loosestrife

Woody Plants - bottombush, water willow, willow

FLOATING WEEDS (13 varieties)

Free-floating - common duckweed, common salvinia, giant duckweed, water meal, star duckweed

Rooted floating - american lotus, spatterdock, water  hyacinth, water lettuce, water pennywort, water shield, white water lily, and yellow water lily

SUBMERGED WEEDS (31 varieties)

Pond Weeds - american, clasping-leaf, curlyleaf, flatstem, floating-leaf, horned, illinois large leaf, leafy, richardson's, sago, small Naiads - brittle, common, southern
